A Southwark police officer has been sacked after testing positive for using cannabis, the Met has said.
PC Donna Blackwood was dismissed following a three-day misconduct hearing, which ended on Wednesday, July 5.
It was alleged that on November 16, 2015, PC Blackwood tested positive for cannabis following a substance-misuse test.
The hearing found that the officer had a case to answer in respect of the standards of professional behaviour, in relation to ‘discreditable conduct’ and ‘fitness for duty’.
The panel found the allegations proven and that PC Blackwood had breached the Met’s standards of professional behaviour in such a serious way that this amounted to gross misconduct.
The panel determined that the only appropriate sanction was dismissal without notice.
What a waste of her time and our money, she looses her job which we paid to train her for…just for having a little puff on a joint in her own private time. I realise that the law must apply to all, so I suggest we end the prohibition of cannabis… Please why don’t we try the 21st century Theresa and Amber, we might just like it.
