The eighteen-year-old man stabbed in Surrey Quays yesterday afternoon is said to be in a stable condition.

Police confirmed today that the teenage victim of the broad daylight attack has injuries now believed to be ‘non life-threatening’.

Officers also confirmed he was stabbed in the centre’s car park – not inside the centre as previously reported.

The victim remains in a major trauma hospital in east London.

Police have so far made no arrests after the attack at 12.15pm on Friday (October 16) but stepped up stop and search powers overnight, with a Section 60 in place until this morning.

Extra patrols will also be in place over the weekend.

Anyone with information should call 101 or contact Crimestoppers.

We have authorised extra stop & search powers under Section 60 until 7am tomorrow in the area below.
