Dulwich Hamlet manager Hakan Hayrettin feels his side are not getting the results they deserve after they suffered a third consecutive Isthmian League Premier Division defeat when they went down 3-0 to Billericay Town at New Lodge on Tuesday night.
Moses Emmanuel put the Gary McCann’s side ahead in the first half before Bradley Stevenson scored twice in three minutes just before the hour-mark to seal victory.
Dulwich went close in the ninth minute when Luke Wanadio’s long-range shot was tipped onto the crossbar by goalkeeper Daniel Wilks.
The visitors hit the woodwork again with fifteen minutes left when Wilks got a touch on Ryley Scott’s effort and the ball struck the post.
The result leaves the Hamlet nineteenth in the table.
“If anyone had watched the game they wouldn’t have thought Billericay were the better team, but they were clinical,” Hayrettin said on Dulwich’s YouTube channel.
“They were on top for the first five, ten minutes then we got back in the game. We had a good effort that bounced up and I think hit the crossbar and went over.
“And then again a lack of concentration in the latter of the first half and they scored. And then we’re chasing. It was a game where there was nothing really in it but they were more clinical than us and we didn’t push them in the final third.
“We had our chances, if Miquel [Scarlett] hits that on target it’s probably going to go in. We had a couple of good chances in the second half but we just didn’t take them.
“Overall they were just more clinical. Seventy-five per cent of your goals at this level or around it are going to come in the six-yard box. Their third goal was typical of that and they took it well.
“We just need to keep grinding it out. They weren’t overly better than us, we did well in the second half, we were better than them, we moved it well. But we just didn’t have those clinical edges in both boxes and that’s where we faltered.”
Hayrettin paid tribute to the away fans. “Amazing. Amazing. What can I say? I always tell the truth, amazing again, as usual – and we need to give them something.”
Dulwich will have that chance this Saturday when they welcome Kingstonian to Champion Hill for a 3pm kick-off. It is the Hamlet’s first home game since September 23.
Hayrettin added: “We’ve just got to get the boys up and keep doing what we’re doing and try to get a result because the way we’re playing is not bad, it’s just both boxes at the moment.”
