MILLWALL captain Tony Craig believes AFC Bournemouth are an example to all clubs what can be achieved with modest finances.
The Lions face the Cherries at The Den on Saturday for a place in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
The two club’s differing fortunes crossed in 2014-15 as Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe led the club into the Premier League for the first time in their history, while Millwall were relegated to League One.
Bournemouth were in the third tier as recently as 2012-13 and Howe still has several of the players that finished second to win promotion that season, including Simon Francis, Steve Cook, Charlie Daniels, Harry Arter and Marc Pugh.
Craig believes that League One experience could be important for their opponents at the weekend, but vowed the Lions would be “getting in their faces” as they try to cause an upset.
“Quite a few of their players have played League One football and they’ve gone up through the Championship and into the Premier League,” Craig said. “They’ve got lots of experience under their belts. Eddie Howe has managed in this league as well.
“What Bournemouth have done to go up through the leagues with the budget they’ve had is absolutely fantastic and just shows that what any club can be capable of.
“It also shows what a good manager Eddie Howe is and the quality of the group of players he’s got.
“But we won’t change for any side, we play at a high intensity and get around the pitch. We’ll be getting in their faces.”
