JOE Edwards has explained the next steps for the youngsters who have returned from their loan spells this week.
Chin Okoli has returned from Bromley, Joe Wright has come back from Salford City while Kyle Smith and Abdul Abdulmalik have also left Wealdstone. Striker Nana Boateng will also be arriving back from Woking later this month.
Okoli, 20, thrived at Hayes Lane until injury disrupted the final few weeks of his loan with Smith had a big impact after joining Wealdstone in September.
Lions boss Edwards said meetings will be held in the coming weeks to work out who will go out on loan again in the second half of the season and who is to stay settled with Kevin Nugent’s under-21 side.
He told NewsAtDen: “At the moment the players are with Nuge [Nugent]. Kyle and Chin are coming back from injury. Ads has been at Wealdstone, he didn’t get as much game time as we would have liked.
“We had a meeting about four weeks ago where we sit down with Nuge and [academy director] Scott Fitzgerald. We primarily discussed players who were in the building at the time, in particular Kamarl Grant, Niino Adom-Malaki, the ones that had been training with our group a lot.
“But we will definitely in the next couple of weeks be having a meeting again with the guys in the academy to discuss any potential loans.
“At the moment some of the boys have just got to focus on getting back to a place where they are fit to play. Decisions are to be made on loan and certainly getting game time is always important for young players.”
