Police have launched a murder investigation after a 27-year-old woman was found dead in an Elephant and Castle flat and a man fell to his death five hours later.
Officers rushed to an apartment building above the Sainsbury’s on Elephant Road, off New Kent Road, at around 4pm yesterday (Thursday, April 6) after receiving reports of a “disturbance”.
They found a woman suffering serious injuries who, despite the best efforts of paramedics, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said they believed it was a “domestic related incident”.
It has now emerged that a man known to the woman “fell from height” at New Change next to St Paul’s Cathedral five hours later at 8.43pm.
Once again, despite emergency services’ best efforts, the 31-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
Next of kin have been informed and the Met Police has said it doesn’t believe there are any other people connected to the incidents.
Detective Inspector Mike Nolan of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command said: “We know that local people will be shocked by this incident, and while we are at the very early stages of our investigation, I would like to reassure the community that we don’t believe that any other persons are outstanding in connection with this tragic sequence of events.
“I am keen to hear from anyone who has information relating to this investigation who has not yet spoken with police, and I thank local residents for their patience and cooperation as my team go about their enquiries.”
Anyone with information is asked to call the police on 101 quoting 4548/6APR.
