A boy aged eight has been rushed to hospital following a ‘road traffic collision’ on Rye Lane, Peckham.
Emergency services were called to the scene, near the crossing with Blenheim Grove, at 1pm this afternoon (Friday, July 21).
One person has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency officer.
London Ambulance Service reported treating a child at the scene, who was rushed to a major trauma centre “as a priority”.
His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Large crowds of people gathered around a police cordon at the scene, where a car remained for several hours after the incident.
A London Ambulance Service (LAS) spokesperson said: “We were called today (21 July) at 1:01pm to reports of a road traffic collision between a car and a pedestrian on Rye Lane, Peckham Rye.
“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, an incident response officer, and a medic in a fast-response car. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.
“We treated a child at the scene, before taking them to a major trauma centre as a priority.”
A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police were called by the London Ambulance Service shortly after 13:00hrs on Friday, 21 July to reports of a car in collision with a pedestrian on Peckham Rye, SE15.
“Emergency services attended. An eight-year-old boy has been taken to hospital for treatment; his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.”
