Scores of people were forced to evacuate a building after a fire in a four-storey residential building on Distin Street, off Kennington Road.
Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to the blaze at 8.03am in Vauxhall this morning (Friday, October 27).
Crews from the Dowgate, Soho and Old Kent Road fire stations had brought it under control by 9.02am.
A man who had left the property before firefighters arrived is being treated by London Ambulance Service workers for smoke inhalation.
Roughly 20 other people had escaped the building before crews arrived.
Most of a maisonette on the ground and first floors of the building was damaged by fire.
Its cause is under investigation.
