Dozens of people were evacuated from their homes this week after a chemical spill in a basement swimming pool on Tower Bridge Road this week.
Some 70 people had to leave their flats after the London Fire Brigade found chemicals mixing in the pool on Wednesday morning, in the basement of a mixed-use commercial and residential block near Tower Bridge.
Firefighters set up a 50-metre cordon and used specialist equipment to contain the spread of the chemicals and ventilate the building.
Four fire engines came, with about 25 firefighters. One man was treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service crews.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “Always follow the instructions for cleaning products and chemicals carefully and don’t be tempted to mix them as it could produce hazardous fumes.
“Make sure you also wear gloves when using cleaning products and always keep them securely sealed and out of the reach of children.”
