MATIJA Sarkic is back in contention this Saturday for Millwall’s home game against Coventry City.
The goalkeeper, a summer signing from Wolverhampton Wanderers, has missed 11 games with a quad muscle issue picked up around the time of September’s 1-1 draw against Birmingham City.
That game featured Sarkic giving away a penalty and then saving the subsequent spot-kick.
He is now ready to return for the Lions’ next league match and will be looking to pressurise Bartosz Bialkowski, who has been featuring in between the sticks over the past two months.
Millwall boss Joe Edwards said: “He’s back. He’s in contention for selection now but he’s been training for this whole international period.”
The only fresh injury concern for Millwall is Danny McNamara who has taken a knock on the knee that leaves him “touch and go” for Saturday.
Edwards added: “Danny McNamara took a knock to his knee at the end of last week in training. He’s back out on the grass rehabbing now and whether Danny will be involved against Coventry is probably touch and go at this stage but it definitely won’t be one that keeps him out for long.”
Meanwhile, Joe Bryan, who hurt his groin against Blackburn Rovers last month, is expected to be out until Christmas
“Other than that, it’s only really Joe Bryan from the first team squad,” Edwards said. “He’s on the training pitch but it’s very early stage rehab. Joe will still be a few weeks. It will probably be in and around Christmas. Whether he’ll feature in games and whether we’ll be able to get him ready for Christmas itself I’m not sure.”
Duncan Watmore could also be back in the matchday squad after overcoming an injury issue that has kept him out since the 2-2 draw with Hull City.
